4 insights from our conversation:
1. Personality
His personal journey of losing weight and becoming a food expert was an important factor for starting Grünten. Shifting their marketing focus to the product itself turned out to be much less powerful. Interest from both resellers and consumers went up when they refocused the brand on Berend himself and his mission.
INSIGHT
People can try to copy your product but they can’t copy your personality. People crave human connection with the brands in their life.
2. Never regret
One of his biggest motivators to live life to the fullest was hearing the regrets of a dear family member at the end of their life.
INSIGHT
If you do everything you can, failing or succeeding is less important. Because you tried your best there is nothing to regret.

3. It’s more fun together
Berend founded and grew the company alone. Although that felt very empowering, having to make all decisions by yourself can be very stressful. After starting to work one-on-one with a marketing expert, running the business became much more fun and effortless. He is in the process of onboarding a fulltime partner to run Grünten together.
INSIGHT
Team up with people to bounce ideas off of each other and share your challenges and successes.
4. Business success with mindfulness
A lot of business advice from successful entrepreneurs is actually about managing your energy with gratitude and mindfulness. Berend implemented The Miracle Morning to start every day with 6 powerful habits: Silence, Affirmation, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, Scribing.
INSIGHT
A healthy morning routine creates the daily structure you need to move forward and stack up small wins for long term success.
